I'd originally intended to write something else as my first entry but Summer's challenge was just to much fun to resist. I've enjoyed reading so many of the Going Down entries that I had to put my two cents in. I didn't title it going down because I wanted people to realize it was new and not mistake it for one of the others. Let me know what you think. If you like this I've got a sequel in mind. All comments to: 72620,3447@compuserve.com I would rate this as a nice strong R because it hints at an act that many consider..... This contains third season spoilers for all you English fans that haven't had a chance to catch it yet. Scully smiled that wonderful smile at him, the one that he'd walk across hot coals for... the one that he lived for, and proceeded him into the elevator. If only she knew how literally that was now true. Mulder began to flash back to his Blessing Way vision. He'd been dead or at least to the door and had talked with those on the other side. "There is truth here but no justice... live." "Samantha's not here, Fox. Go Back." All their words had meant little or nothing to him. He was weak, tired and afraid. Not just physically but mentally as well. Tired of THEM always being one step ahead. Tired of living in terror. Tired of never winning, hell... he never even tied. And they used him as their cleanup errand boy. Well he'd had enough, it was calm and peaceful here and he didn't have to live in terror any more so screw them, he was just going to stay. He felt his soul slowly severing its last links to his body. He would be dead soon. He felt a quiet satisfaction. No more using him and Scully to... Oh God No... Scully... He didn't want to go back to his body. No! He refused... flat out. He didn't want to fight anymore. He wasn't going back his mind insisted and his mind always controlled. And then part of him seemed to step back and watch as he split into two parts. One Mulder stood with his arms crossed over his chest refusing to move. He recognized him as his cold logical mind. The observer Mulder who held tenuously to life smiled to himself and thought . Another self that he didn't recognize stepped aside. This one seemed so isolated and alone. His head was bowed. This Mulder must be the one who had cried out over Scully. He watched disinterestedly as two parts of his personality fought over whether he would live or die. He could tell from the mind's stance that the other part didn't stand a chance. Ah well... he guessed he was going to die... he didn't really mind. And then the other half looked up from the ground and he recoiled. There was such fire in his eyes as he spoke. "I let you control everything. I let you keep everyone at a distance. No one gets too close, that's your rule. Always detached. Well it's truth time you cold blooded son of a bitch and now you're going to face it. I let someone sneak in and you are not going to leave her alone. I don't care how tired you are or how comfortable you are here. We are not leaving her alone. And when we get back I may just tell her how we feel." "We don't feel anything." The mind half argued. "We're in love with her and we want her." A third Mulder suddenly appeared. The observer recognized him at once. The new one felt like pure heat energy, this was definitely his Id. "Those videos and magazines are a total bore. Hell, I can't even get off on them any more. They are empty, hollow, I want more... I want her... no one else! And it's been no one else for a long time." The mind Mulder began to back off and Mulder, the part of him that had stood back and watched, thought quietly to himself As the elevator began to move Mulder looked up at Scully's smiling face. He shuddered. He hadn't remembered that part of his vision... dream... he wasn't sure which, until the minute she had smiled at him. Then it had all come flooding back. Since waking up from the Blessing Way he had felt numb, cold, no emotions just his continued search for the truth. His mind ruled. But that smile... His mind fought for control but his heart... soul... whatever, would no longer be silenced. His hand went to the control panel disconnected the alarm and stopped the elevator. his mind insisted. Scully looked up questioningly. "Mulder, what's wrong?" He couldn't meet her eyes just yet so he took a deep breath to stall for time. "We need to talk." He inhaled another deep breath and slowly let it out, "Dana." He looked up into her eyes to see the shocked look on her face. "Mulder... I..." "You came to me in a dream. You told me you were alive but that you couldn't get to me just yet. You told me that I was in grave danger. That's how I knew you were all right. I just felt your presence..." Scully looked down embarrassed to admit that she believed in something so unscientific. "I know it was just wishful thinking on my part. I guess I needed to believe that you were going to be all right to keep going on. I know I shouldn't have said anything to your mother. I shouldn't have raised false hopes but..." Mulder interrupted. "Night before last, right? About one?" He could see from the look on her face that he was right. "I had been out of my coma for a few hours and when I went back to sleep my last thoughts were of you. They told me what had happened when they couldn't find me. How you had gone to look and had returned in defeat and left for Washington. I was afraid for you. I woke up an hour later with the feeling that we had talked and that you were okay but you needed me. I figured it was just a dream generated by my subconscious to make me feel better." Mulder smiled that half-assed cocky smile of his and concluded, "I guess it was just a dream, huh?" He watched the emotions play over her face. "Hey, where's my Scully? Aren't you going to tell me that it's just a coincidence that there is no such thing as telepathic dream connections?" He smiled gently at her with his heart in his eyes, took one last deep breath for courage, and raised his hand to her neck. He felt like a cobra with its prey. Scully seemed hypnotized by him as she let him pull her into his embrace. Slowly he leaned down to kiss her lips. The kiss was long and deep. His tongue explored her mouth then withdrew so that he could suck gently on her lower lip. Dying had made him face his feelings, had made him realize that without her nothing else mattered. It had also made him face the fact that he wasn't near the detached observer that he thought he was. He thought that his experiences of losing Samantha and then what Phoebe put him through ten years later had left him so scarred that his emotions no longer held sway over his behavior or even existed. Hell, the porn had served a dual purpose. It let him relieve his physical needs while testing to make sure he had no emotions left. He watched to achieve sexual release without the danger of feelings, and emotional entanglements. He knew that that was why he used the movies or magazines he didn't have to put up with a living person that way. It gave him a false sense of security that there were no emotions left that he could be hurt by. He'd lied to himself all along. As he kissed Scully he realized that down deep where he had buried his heart he desperately wanted to love and be loved. Well by now he had figured out that he loved. The question was, was he loved in return? It was a risk... but one that he was now willing to take to find out. He broke the kiss and pulled slightly away so that he could look into her eyes as he raised his hands to frame her face. "Dana, when I said I died I meant just that. When I was in a coma Deep Throat and my father came to me and tried to convince me that I had more to do, that I shouldn't choose to die. I was tired, and sick, and yes, mad and I just didn't give a damn anymore. My father even told me that Samantha was alive and none of it mattered. So in my mind I just decided to die and I felt my soul severing its last ties with my body." Before he could continue Scully looked up in horror, pulled away and turned her back to him. "How could you? How could you give up on everything we have worked so hard for? How could you give up on Samantha? On our work?" Scully took a ragged breath and fought not to cry when she realized how close she had come to loosing him. In a whisper that she didn't want him to hear but that he did she finished, "How could you give up on me? How could you leave me?" "I couldn't... I couldn't leave you. My dying thought was that they wouldn't have us to do their dirty work anymore. Up until then I'd thought only of myself, only how I felt, what I wanted, but the minute I remembered you I felt the slender threads that held my body and soul together suddenly reconnect. I then got to watch three of me fight over whether or not we'd leave you. My mind was fed up and determined not to go back but my heart wasn't about to let go. Hell, even my Id got into the fray. I guess I don't have to tell you what side he came down on." She listened to him conclude. "Dana, I can't promise that nothing will happen to me or that I will always be there for you but I can promise that if I have any choice in the matter I will always come back to you." Mulder walked up from behind and pulled her back into his arms. He leaned down and gently kissed her neck. =========================================================================== From: <72620.3447@compuserve.com> Newsgroups: alt.tv.x-files.creative Subject: New story: Welcome Home Part 2 Date: 22 Oct 1995 04:39:37 GMT I would rate this as a nice strong R because it hints at an act that many consider..... Fox... for a long time but she was sure that he was consumed by his work, that nothing else mattered. Oh she knew that he cared but she had always figured that he regarded her as the little sister he had lost. It wasn't the relationship that she had wanted but she had settled for it and tried to convince herself that it WAS what she wanted. She'd kept telling herself that she thought of him as another big brother. That first night when he'd been burning up with fever she sat up with him most of the night with a wash cloth and cold water rinsing his body off to keep it cool. At least that's what she told herself. The second night she had only stripped off his shirt. The jeans would have been too hard to get back on an unconscious Mulder. She had been terrified that they would find them but she had only dared to drive two hours out of D.C. because she had to tend the shoulder wound that she had given him. She'd taken care of the injury, given him a shot to knock him out and then proceeded to cry herself to sleep on his chest praying that he would forgive her when he came to his senses. She had taken care when he woke up not to let him know how much his words on the phone had hurt her. The fact that he had understood and accepted her reasoning was one of the greatest reliefs in her life. Not equal to the relief she felt to have him alive and standing here with her but a relief nonetheless. For Mulder his trust was as important if not more important than his love. It was a much harder won prize and he had given her both. "Scully? Hey Scully. I guess we should be going." Mulder's heart was hurting he'd bared his soul and she hadn't said a word. He didn't even know if she had understood what he was trying to tell her. He stepped back to draw away when she suddenly turned in his arms, put her arms around his neck, pulled his face down to hers and began to kiss him. This time it was her tongue exploring his mouth, her hands roaming over his face and chest. It didn't take him long to respond in kind. Mulder bent down slightly, ran both his hands down to her buttocks and lifted her into a closer embrace. Her weight pushed him back into the corner of the elevator. One hand continued to lift her while the other began to explore her body. She moaned when he rubbed her breast and raised her hands to undo his shirt. As her hands gently brushed across his chest he felt his control slipping. "Scully, wait. Stop. We can't... I can't... control myself much longer." Mulder's breath was coming in short gasps. He didn't breath this hard after a ten mile run. "I don't want our first time together to be in an elevator. It should be special." He raised a hand to gently brush her cheek. "Very special." Scully nodded, and leaned against him. In principle she agreed but she wanted him. And even more than that she wanted to show him just how much he meant to her, how much she loved him. She could say the words but they seemed so inadequate to express what she felt. What could she do? An idea came to her. And in the back of her mind she heard a friend's voice saying men will do anything to get a woman to... She took a deep breath and started before she lost her nerve. "Yes. You're right, Fox, but I want to give you a welcome home present. Okay?" He looked at her questioningly wondering what she meant. "Going down?" she replied to his look as she quickly undid the button on his jeans and ran the zipper carefully down. She dropped to her knees and pulled his demins down in one fluid motion. Mulder was pinned in the corner his hands suddenly griping the hand rails. His eyes slipping shut. He suddenly experienced a vision like he had during the Blessing Way. Again he was the observer as he split into three parts. The heart Mulder looked thoroughly bemused, the Id was making a fist in the air and drawing it down in the familiar YESSS sign, while the mind Mulder was passed out cold on the floor. The Observer was trying desperately to stay on his feet and not yell so loud that it brought any of his neighbors running. Scully was talking. What was she saying? He tried to get his mind to focus. "Now, Fox I'm not really experienced with this, you need to give me some directions." She looked up into his face and continued. "I take it words are out. Okay just moan a little if you like it. How about this? And this? That was a loud one I guess that's a definite yes?" She would talk a little and then use her mouth for other things. He thought he was going to go crazy. His mind was just starting to form the sentences to tell her that it always took awhile with him because he was such a hardened case when he felt himself explode. It was then he realized that he was in all new territory. His heart hadn't been involved in anything to do with sex for a long time. Not since the first time that he had realized that Phoebe had betrayed him with another man and that had been early on in their affair. The relationship had gone on for a long time after that but part of him had died. Sex hadn't had a damn thing to do with love after that. Well it did now and he had a feeling that all the control he had developed so that he was considered a wonderful lover that could go on forever had just disintegrated when he fell in love with Dana Scully. When they finally got together he was going to be starting from square one when it came to making love. Such thoughts made him feel insecure and vulnerable but when he looked down into Dana's face he realized that he didn't mind at all. It was going to be fun learning all over again. Dana had pulled up his pants and was buttoning them when he looked at her again. He still couldn't believe what had happened but when she smiled at him he thought, "Ready to go, Mulder?" she smiled at him again as she rose. He was taking slow deep breaths to calm himself down. They were only marginally successful. "In a minute, Dana." He took her face in his hands and looked into her eyes. What he saw there filled his soul. "I love you, Dana Scully, and when we get someplace comfortable and quiet it's going to be my turn to show you just how much. Thank you." He leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips one last time before setting the elevator in motion again. As the doors opened she kissed him on the cheek and whispered in his ear, "I'll regard that as a promise." She turned and proceeded him out of the elevator.
